Commercial Deionization (DI) Systems
Solutions
Service-exchange and on-site deionization for laboratories, electronics, optics, plating, and any application that needs Type II or Type III water.
Deionization removes dissolved mineral ions using cation and anion exchange resin, producing water with very low conductivity — typically 1 MΩ·cm or better depending on configuration. For applications where reverse osmosis is not pure enough on its own (final rinse in electronics manufacturing, lens grinding, laboratory feed water, plating bath make-up), DI is the standard polishing step.
Service-Exchange Tanks
We deliver fully regenerated DI tanks on a route, exchange the depleted tanks, and regenerate them off-site at a Culligan resin facility. Capital is zero, the operator is hands-off, and you only pay for the water you actually treated. Ideal for labs, OEMs, and any facility that wants DI without managing chemistry, acid, and caustic on-site.
On-Site DI Systems
- Two-bed (cation + anion) for general process water
- Mixed-bed polishers for high-purity applications
- Continuous electrodeionization (CEDI) for chemical-free regeneration
- RO + DI trains for the lowest operating cost on hard or high-TDS feed
- Resistivity and TOC monitoring with alarming and data logging
Typical Applications
- Laboratory feed water (ASTM Type II / III, CLSI CLRW pre-treatment)
- Electronics, semiconductor, and optics rinse
- Plating, anodizing, and circuit-board manufacturing
- Pharmaceutical pre-treatment ahead of USP-grade systems
- Battery, fuel cell, and renewable manufacturing
- Boiler feedwater polishing for high-pressure steam
Frequently Asked Questions
Service-exchange tanks or buy our own DI system?
Low or sporadic usage and high-purity needs favor service exchange — no acid/caustic on site, predictable cost, no operator burden. Steady high-volume usage typically pencils out for on-site regeneration or CEDI. We will model the break-even with your actual flow.
What purity can you deliver?
Service-exchange and mixed-bed systems routinely deliver 17.5 MΩ·cm or better at the point of use. Practical purity depends on feed water, hardware, and how clean your distribution piping is — we account for all three.
Do you handle resin disposal and DOT shipping?
Yes. Service-exchange means depleted resin leaves your site in our tanks and is regenerated under permitted conditions at a Culligan regen facility. You never touch the chemistry.
